Hi, I'm Kesta Medoit
How I Came To Blend Christian Ideology And Psychotherapy
I see therapy as a gift from God, so I consider the work I do—providing advanced therapeutic care through the lens of Scripture—a sacred calling. Helping clients, like yourself, heal their pain and overcome longstanding issues while guiding them toward more fulfilling, value-driven lives is immensely rewarding.
As a Christian counselor, I’m honored to be a part of my client’s journey of healing—whether it involves making space for their deepest fears, their wildest dreams, or their strongest spiritual convictions. I feel blessed to act as a vessel for the Holy Spirit, helping people free themselves from the past and discover new purpose, greater hope, and a stronger, more profound connection to Christ.
Why This Work Matters To Me
As is the case with far too many people, I too have been hurt by childhood trauma, and I understand just how easy it is to get stuck in the past. I know how the mind and body can get trapped in negative behavioral patterns that make life feel unbearable and change seem unlikely.
I also know through my own journey of healing that change is absolutely possible—and drawing upon the promises of the Gospel and being surrounded by other devoted believers has been incredibly helpful and transformative. However, sometimes even the most devout and faithful Christians need outside support, especially when trauma and longstanding mental health challenges are involved.
I Believe That Faith And Mental Health Therapy Can Work Together In Harmony
We know from Scripture that God uses his children as instruments to help those who are hurt or sick. That’s why God endowed this world with healers, teachers, and counselors—this also includes mental health specialists.
In fact, the Greek word therapeuo (the root word of therapy) literally translates to service, care, and counsel. According to Bible scholars, the word therapeuo appears several times in the New Testament, describing Jesus’s acts of healing the sick, embracing the forsaken, and restoring people’s faith and sense of wholeness.
As an EMDR-certified, trauma-focused Christian therapist, I’m not here to replace or even speak for God. Rather, my job is to help people like yourself heal, find themselves, and walk in their purpose by blending research-backed techniques with Biblical principles.

How I Approach My Work As A Psychotherapist
I want to make sure that you’re getting the most out of therapy, so I’ll always tailor sessions and treatment to your needs. I also draw from a mix of holistic and evidence-based strategies, oftentimes working within a multicultural framework. Some of the things we can work on include:
-
Identifying and addressing underlying issues causing distress
-
Processing and resolving painful memories/traumatic experiences
-
Rebuilding self-esteem, improving relationships, and letting go of shame/fear
-
Challenging negative thinking patterns and adopting new outlooks
-
Connecting with Christ and a newfound sense of joy, purpose, and peace
As we do the integral work of uncovering and resolving any personal, relational, or mental health challenges, I will often integrate biblical-based and science-based mindfulness techniques into sessions. These techniques are tailored to help you make space for prayer, connect and hear from the Holy Spirit, regulate your nervous system, and improve emotional resilience.
In our work together, we’ll connect Scripture to help work through your current struggles and then invite the Holy Spirit into session for guidance.
To ensure we’re staying on track, I’ll use formal mental health assessments to measure progress and adjust treatment as therapy evolves. I’ll also give you free access to a mental health platform with relevant tools and resources you can use whenever you like.
What Makes Reset Wellness Center Unique?
I give clients a safe place where they can share their pain, be vulnerable, and find relief without having to sacrifice essential elements of their mental health—or their faith. By combining Biblical principles with research-backed therapy techniques from EMDR, Brainspotting, or psychodynamic theory, I’m able to identify the core issues causing disruptions and unlock clients’ innate ability to heal, enabling them to create change and reclaim control over their lives.
Oftentimes, I am the third or fourth therapist a person has seen. Before coming to me, their experiences in therapy often range from unhelpful to discouraging to downright invalidating. However, because I take a holistic approach to therapy that respects people’s Christian beliefs and focuses on accelerated healing, clients often discover the change they’re looking for.
I’ve been trained in some of the most effective therapeutic interventions available, including EMDR, Brainspotting, Psychodynamic Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also make sure my clients are equipped with tools that actually work and facilitate growth, eventually eliminating the need for therapy altogether.
What’s Life Like Outside Of The Office?
Outside of therapy, I am heavily involved with my church, frequently hosting church community members for social gatherings or engaging in mission trips. As a Black Christian woman with a French, American, and Haitian cultural background, I am very passionate about fighting the stigma of mental health, especially within the Black, Haitian, and Christian communities.
I am dedicated to helping people heal and deepen their connection with Christ—to helping those in pain rise out of the darkness and into the light. Despite what conventional science or our limited understanding of God may dictate, I believe that anything is possible with faith and support.
