Anxiety Therapy in Bethesda, MD & Miami, FL
Are You Struggling To Manage Anxiety Through Faith Alone?
Despite drawing strength from scripture and prayer, do you still have trouble controlling how your mind and body respond to stressors? Do you struggle with:
-
Excessive worrying, over-analyzing, or catastrophic thinking?
-
Restlessness, digestive issues, shortness of breath, or panic attacks?
-
Self-doubt, self-sabotage, or trust issues that damage relationships?
Perhaps you feel guilty or ashamed for not being able to heal on your own—as if your faith isn’t strong enough. Or maybe you understand that anxiety is not a reflection of your faith, and that therapy stands the best chance of helping you finally Let Go and Let God.
The Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Toll Of Anxiety
Living with anxiety means constantly navigating a minefield of fear, dread, and negative thoughts. You probably get headaches or feel overwhelmed from overthinking and second-guessing yourself all the time. And although you’re completely exhausted, you can’t seem to say “No” when someone asks you for something. Despite bending over backwards to be there for others, you likely feel as though you’re somehow a burden to those you love, so you withdraw to spare them the trouble.
As a faith-based counselor and the founder of Reset Wellness Center, I understand just how complicated anxiety can be, especially within the context of faith. That’s why I want to show you how to lean into scripture, prayer, and biblical truths, blending them with insight and skills gained in anxiety counseling, to help you find peace that lasts.

Many People Of Faith Are Hesitant About Anxiety Treatment
As Christians, we’re all about helping others in need, but when it comes to asking for help ourselves, that’s another story. For many, it can feel like an admission of failure or weakness—as if we just haven’t prayed enough, been patient enough, or read the Bible enough.
Then, we turn to social media and either doom scroll through the news as a distraction (only to wish we hadn’t)—or we compare ourselves to others, reinforcing the idea that we’re not good enough, not doing enough, or falling behind. That constant sense of letting God or ourselves down generates a ton of guilt that feeds into the cycle of anxiety.

Why Choose Anxiety Therapy When We Have Faith And Prayer?
Anxiety often creates a lot of trouble in our lives, so we tend to look at it as something to eliminate. It is part of our earthly experience that can serve as a protective factor, helping us respond appropriately to danger. However, many of us let this "fight-or-flight" response keep us stuck in overdrive and living in fear.
What’s more, anxiety can often result from trauma, genetics, chemical imbalances, and hormonal changes—all of which can feel challenging to understand and manage through faith alone. Yes, prayer and scripture can offer us peace and even guidance for overcoming adversity. Yes, the Holy Spirit is sufficient. And I believe that—because God, in His faithfulness, knows that the vast majority of us need additional support in this fight against fear, worry, and control—He provides us with counselors to help us combat and overcome these obstacles more effectively.
Christian counseling gives you holistic, evidence-based support from a professional who can provide validation, guidance, and proactive ways to utilize your faith in healing and navigating life with greater confidence. Working with a Christian counselor at Reset Wellness Center can help you not only understand the nature and root cause of your anxiety, but introduce you to practical tools and techniques to use outside the therapy room.
Anxiety Therapy As A Vehicle For Transformation And Renewal
Anxiety can turn you into your own worst enemy, pestering you with questions like—What if I deserve this? What if I’m just broken? What if this means God doesn’t love me? The truth is, even the most devoted, knowledgeable Christians struggle to heal through faith alone—and as for these fears you have? God specifically encourages you to cast your anxieties upon him.
My job is to show you how to do that—to help you stop living in fear, trust in God, and lean into scripture to heal and make positive shifts in your life. I’m just here to act as a conduit for the Holy Spirit in strengthening your faith, renewing your mindset, and transforming your pain into growth.
What Is Christian Counseling For Anxiety Like?
The first few therapy sessions are there for you to share your story in detail, including how anxiety affects your mind, body, behaviors, and relationships day to day. As a holistic Christian therapist with a background in coaching and counseling, I think it’s important to treat the whole person by looking at diet and nutrition, sleep hygiene, exercise habits, or exposure to anxiety-inducing stressors, like the news.

We might explore ways for you to eat healthier, spend more time with nature, and make other shifts in daily routines that will complement our work in sessions. Ultimately, while you are developing new coping skills and making subtle lifestyle changes, we’ll be working to resolve core underlying anxiety symptoms and develop a comprehensive treatment plan that speaks to your needs.
What Kind Of Tools And Approach Do I Use In Anxiety Therapy?
The Bible tells us that faith without works is dead (James 2:17), so I take an action-oriented approach to therapy while teaching you how to live by this principle to improve therapy outcomes. Typically, I incorporate value-based and reflective exercises, worksheets, and homework into treatment to allow us to track progress and create a sense of accountability for your own role in healing.
To tailor anxiety therapy to each individual, I draw from a blend of holistic, evidence-based, and Christian-oriented treatment strategies:
Psychodynamic Theory
Psychodynamic Theory helps us get to the root of the problem by looking at how the past informs the present, including any underlying fears, learned behaviors, and survival skills that manifest early in life to help us stay alive.
Christian Mindfulness
Christian Mindfulness strategies, such as breath prayers, meditations with God, body scans, and silent reflections, enable us to step back, anchor ourselves to the present, and adapt to stressors on the fly.
Christian-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CB-CBT)
Christian-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CB-CBT) uses the lens of scripture to examine self-defeating thoughts, beliefs, or stories we tell ourselves, challenging them with biblical truths to achieve a positive shift in mindset.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a method developed to address and resolve longstanding mental health challenges, such as anxiety, and other deeply ingrained psychological and emotional wounds that stem from trauma more quickly than traditional therapy. Learn more about how I tailor EMDR therapy to the Christian community.
Brainspotting
Brainspotting for anxiety is similar to EMDR but a more gentle, non-invasive version of targeting mental health challenges like anxiety with bilateral brain stimulation techniques (i.e., binaural sounds or tapping), in order to help the brain uncover and deeply process the root cause of challenges without the need to share too many details. Your Worth Is Not Tied To Your Anxiety
I know that you might feel like a disappointment or failure, but this doesn't have to be your story. With the power of Christ and the support of a Christian counselor, you can eventually learn to manage life uncertainties more effectively.
Once you trust in the process and commit yourself to doing the work, it really is possible to handle stressors with grace, live with greater confidence, and rebuild your sense of self-worth and inner peace.
